 I have been meal planning and try new recipes lately.. not my favorite thing but one of my new recipes was Pioneer Womans Grilled Chicken with Lemon Basil Pasta and it was INCREDIBLE.  You should try it :)

 I made this planner out of an old Readers Digest book.

My friend hosted an incredible Mad Hatter Bachelorette Party at my house last weekend and we made this Cafe Menu Board for the party out of old cabinet doors.

Our dear friends got married last weekend :)

And my sister came up to help me make a 100+ cake balls for their wedding.

Seriously i have the BEST family in the world!!

The last couple weeks have been crazy but don't worry i'll be back with our regular scheduled programming soon!

Life Update

It's been crazy around here! but no worries i'm back :) I hope you check out Joon and Meredith's blog last week where I aired my big coffee table renovation and my pallet shelf! Anyway on to some house updates and thrifty finds..

I found this metal table at the thrift store for $2.50 i knew it would be perfect for my porch, i'll do a before and after post later.

 I got this lovely mirror at a yard sale for $5 

This mirror is so incredible because not even two days prior to finding it i saw the door below at a restaurant back home and said to my mother "i want to paint a piece of furniture like that."

And it is perfect for my entryway!

I also got this bike basket at a yard sale.

I made over this lamp,

I covered the shade with linen and tacked the brown ribbon it so i may end up changing it a little. 

I also scored this vintage tile for .50 cents.

and i got all of these embroidery hoops for $3! I have been looking for wood ones for a while so when i saw these i scooped them all up.

Maybe one day i'll be able to do something like this...

I got this mirrored tray for $2 i spray painted it with Krylon's Caramel Latte to keep it's antique look.

it's perfect in our bathroom.

This past weekend was the hubs and i's first free weekend in a while so we decided to reno our master closet. it's not finished yet, we are still waiting on the closet system, but we re carpeted, repainted put up some new trim and took down some drywall. i'll do a longer post on the closet when it's finished.

And last but not least, A few weeks ago i mentioned about the tornado's that hit down in the southeast. Well we help do some relief work and of course while we were dragging huge limbs to the burn pile i was keeping an eye out for some household items :) i found way more than i could take home but this is a little stump i found, it's teeny tiny, and i carved the hubs and i's initials in it for a personal touch. 

Well there you go, that's why i've been MIA for a while, but i'll be back with a closet makeover soon!

From Banana Peel to Curb Appeal

Ok So. Hello one and all my name is Rob and I am the luckiest husband in the world because I am married to the radiant woman who runs Recycled Interiors.  This will be my first but not last post and will consist of three projects done to the cabin.  Let me first start by saying living in the sticks is the bees knees, get it sticks like the logs of the cabin.  So my part of the blog will consist of projects done around the house for next to nothing.  Yes you heard right a lot of the stuff I do will cost next to nothing.  It comes in real handy when you are low on funds or just don't have any.  So on with the curb appeal.

First this is a picture before the cabin a few months after we moved in.

From there you will see the transformation

When I started, on one of my days off I noticed that there was no railing on the steps up to the house.  So after scouring our abandon lot (where we found the supplies for this, this and this project) I found a bunch of wood to take care of the railing.  So with some free wood and some screws from the shed you got yourself a handrail that matches the house.

Next the 4x4's that were holding up the porch were just killing me.  I mean I am a man I want stone and strength.  So I farmed a bunch of stone from the abandon lot, and three bags of cement from our local home improvement store.  So to recap I spent $0 on stone and $13 on cement to create some beautiful pillars.

Then a little stone around one of the trees to bring the stone full frontal.

The third project i tackled was the adirondack chairs for our porch.

If you couldn't tell the wifey used them to spray paint her many projects... That's why they are all janky.

We ran out of spray paint, so the chairs aren't finished yet but when we do i'll share a better picture!

I love lamp

Remember this post when i found the lamp below for $2?!

And this post when i gave it a makeover to look like this...

Well a few weeks ago i gave it another makeover and now it looks like this...

Here it is on the bedside table in our guest room. 

Does the frame on the left look familiar? It's the frame Joon got me, i turned it into a dry erase board but i haven't gotten a dry erase board to write on it yet. I love how the gold matches the other frame on the table.

And those candle sticks used to look like this..

I found these place mats at world market and plan on making them into pillows. And they are also the new color scheme for the guest room.

The turquoise i used for the lamp and candle sticks matches the place mats perfectly!

The guest room is slowly coming along. We have some wonderful guests coming this weekend so i hope to get the room mostly done by then!
